Disclaimer: The definition of art is the sort of thing you can argue about for hours, days, centuries without coming to an agreement. Art and how we understand it is a very personal thing, and that's a good thing.
Accordingly I do not claim to have a definitive answer on the definition of "art" - this is merely my personal definition which invariable affects how i approach my research.
Art is anything made with some amount of creative thought that aims to transport emotions and provoke and emotional response.
Art is both the product and the process of creating said product.
Accordingly, my understanding of "art" is very broad, I consider a lot of things "art," ranging from the Sistine Chapel to that cute cat video you just watched on youtube, from 4'33" to that nice cup of tea i just made for you, from the family portrait you drew for your mom when you were five years old to that skillful defense a good lawyer writes for his client.
Art lies in the mere combination of creative thinking and transporting or inciting emotion.
This definition is also subject to change as i learn more and think further. If you have comments, thoughts or questions, hit me up!
