I don't know if you knew this, but you are helping me write my master's thesis.
Don't worry, i'm doing all the hard parts, you just gotta keep doing what you're doing and maybe talk to me a little bit.
But first, let me explain:
The topic of my master thesis and corresponding research project is Social Art, which is a term that sort of exists, but really the first major goal of my thesis is to establish and define it.
I'll keep the detailed working definition updated as it progresses over the next year.
I am approaching the subject from the perspective of the artists, because they are the initiators of the whole social art process and interaction. In order o find the origins and defining factors of social art, i want to analyze the underlying needs, desires and motivations, as well as personality traits of artists working in the social art realm. For that i need artists who are willing to let me ask them many questions. (This is a pretty cool offer, really, because i'm utterly delightful, and you get your motivation and personality professionally analyzed, you get insight into all of my materials, and you get to be an active part of this paradigm shift in the world of art that i am trying to scientifically back up. So win win win win, basically.)
In the next step, there may be a survey that you all get to participate in, but before i tell you about that i need to get a little further in my research yet.
All of this i am doing in the spirit of social art, with authenticity, transparency, and availability. So I will share all my findings and insights with you. I'll put my actual thesis online and i'll also have a pretty, more succinct summary for you in the shape of a website. And i'll bug you about it via social media (twitter, and of course the weekly Update videos) throughout the whole process.
Hang on, what the hell is "art" to begin with?
Well, i have a pretty
